Frequently Asked Questions

Is your milk licensed?

Yes! Hoegger Family Farms is fully licensed by the State of Texas as a Grade A raw milk dairy. We meet all state regulations for sanitation, animal care, and bottling. Every bottle is produced and handled right here on our farm under strict cleanliness and quality standards.

What does “Grade A raw milk” mean?

“Grade A” is the highest quality standard for milk. It means our farm follows state-approved practices for herd health, milking, storage, and bottling. “Raw” means the milk is not pasteurized — it comes straight from our cows, cooled immediately, and bottled fresh on the farm.

Is raw milk legal in Texas?

Yes — raw milk is legal to sell in Texas when purchased directly from a licensed farm. That’s why we require pre-orders and on-site or approved-location pickups. We proudly follow all state guidelines to make this wholesome product safely available to our community.

How should I store my milk?

Keep your milk cold — below 45°F at all times.
We recommend storing it toward the back of your fridge and not in the door, where temperatures fluctuate. If you’re driving a long distance, bring a cooler or insulated bag with ice packs to keep your milk fresh.

How long does raw milk last?

When kept cold, our Grade A raw milk typically lasts 7 to 10 days after purchase — sometimes longer!

How do I pay for my order?

Our farm store operates on the honor system — we accept cash, check, or Venmo. Online orders are prepaid through our website.

What products do you offer?

We currently offer Grade A raw milk, seasonal flavored milks (like Chocolate, Mocha, and Pumpkin Spice), cream, and drinkable yogurts.
We also carry limited local items like honey and eggs when available.

What’s coming next?

We’re building a new on-farm creamery, where you’ll soon be able to watch through the glass as we make small-batch pasteurized milk, cheese, and yogurt — all crafted right here in Scotland, Texas.

Can I visit the cows?

While our store is open daily, the barn area isn’t open for tours just yet — but don’t worry, you can still wave at the girls from the fence! We’re working on plans to create more opportunities for visitors to see farm life up close once our creamery is complete.

Can I reuse my bottles or jars?

At this time, we do not reuse bottles brought back to the farm. To maintain our Grade A license and meet sanitation standards, every bottle we sell must be new and food-safe.
